In chrome, it seems that you could hover over the desired url and delete it with Shift+Del. Opera doesn't work that way.

in 48 Beta you can just click on the cross in the corner. I think in a month it will already be available on Stable

The Delete button, since when the focus is received, the line is completely selected. This is standard (unless specifically disabled) for text input fields.
