How to remove a virus (opening a new tab in the browser, advertising)?

Sobsna, about every 20 minutes a new tab opens in the browser (chrome) with advertising. I can not remove this virus (or is it an executable on disk c). There are no additional extensions. The antivirus did not help (tried two different ones). A manual search didn't turn up any results either. Can anyone come across this, how to get rid of it?
