How to register the DNS provider correctly?

Good afternoon, the educational institution has 1 Windows Server 2019 domain controller (one so far), with AD and DNS services. DHCP distributes Mikrotik (it is also a gateway). Question:
1. How to correctly register the DNS provider , in the TCP / IP settings (Windows Server) or through DNS Forwarders (Windows Server)?
2. What is the difference between the two approaches?
3. What is the best approach?

If you write in the TCP / IP settings, then the host will not access the internal DNS, it will immediately go to the provider. And how does the provider know about your AD? So access to AD will be lost in this case, that's all.
