How to register a linux machine in dns from microsoft?

Greetings!
There is a server with ubuntu 12.04. Static ip configured. It needs to register with dns on Windows 2003. Turns out that's the whole problem! How to do it right?
Found a bunch of links, but something did not help.

@oia

what does registered mean? what would it be possible to nslookup IP and get the name of the PC? and vice versa ?

@dpvpro

Exactly.
It seems to me that in one place I did not understand, and did not enter the necessary data.
Namely, in /etc/dhcp/dhclient.conf :
send host-name "hostname";where hostname is the name of the linux host.
Left as is.
