What methods would you recommend to ensure security from malicious qr codes?
PS: I can do it myself, but there are friends who can't.

It's like clicking on links, only with a smartphone.
Do not scan anything
Look at the screen - the decoded version of the qr-code and confirmation to open the link / send a message / call should be displayed there

I don't remember anything being embedded in a QR. a malicious link - easily, but usually scanner programs show what is in the code and ask what to do next with it - open it, save it, etc.
