How to protect yourself from hacks?

Good day. Statement of the situation. There is a computer that is periodically-constantly hacked. Information is being leaked.
Tell me how to protect information? without changing providers.
What is the best operating system to install? What is the procedure for further configuration?
What preventive measures should be taken periodically in the future (except for changing the password once a month)?
Thanks in advance and sorry if the question is stupid or too general. It's just difficult, being a non-specialist, to build a defense without gaps.

One computer? Google "hardened computer", there are very well described steps on how to make a PC almost invulnerable. Briefly:
1. Cut down all unnecessary functionality of the OS. If possible, move to Linux or, better yet, FreeBSD;
2. Cut the user's rights, if any;
3. Firewall and proxy, preferably on an external device.
4. A dozen more tips that you can give if you know the whole situation.
But I gave you directions.

80% of hacks are a human factor: somewhere the password "12345" will be set, somewhere the wrong people will be allowed to access the computer, somewhere they will download some kind of filth, somewhere they will be too lazy to set up the software as expected.

Sorry, this is not a question. This is underground noise. There is no information in this "question". From the word at all.
You need to start with what kind of computer it is. Where is it located, what tasks does it solve (“to play, watch a movie, masturbate to porn” is also a task, no worse than others), what information it stores.
This is why they dance. From the task. Axis, means of protection are all means . And what is the purpose?

It is difficult to answer such a question without understanding what kind of information leakage we are talking about, what network the computer is connected to, and what means of protection are currently used.

Here, for example, is an excellent article on basic laptop protection, here are the very minimum requirements =)
PS In general, the best way to protect something is to know how attacks occur, you can’t protect yourself from what you don't understand.
