In general, this is the case. I look at the sphere of films online in Russia and see that 99% use cloudflare, I alone use a third-party specialized service to protect the site. Moreover, their sites almost never use the Under Attack mode. Although, most likely, sites are under permanent attack.
I know very well that there are very powerful attacks here, and when I bought the Cloudflare tariff, it did not help me, most likely because there is not enough competence. The server has crashed.
In general, is it realistic to move from a specialized service, like everyone else on cloudflare?

In general, there are no secrets with Cloudflare, everything is the same as with the rest - on the server, block access from the Internet and hide the IP address of the server. If necessary, set up Cloudflare rules, etc.
