DDoS protected dedicated server. Ways to protect?

Hello everyone, I've been subjected to DDoS attacks for a year, but recently competitors just don't let the server stand up for a second. The game server is on a cheap host that does not provide information on anything, not on DDoS'u, not on the hardware used for my server.
Does anyone know of a reasonably secure premium service provider? Or maybe when moving to a normal DS, it will be possible to set up software for protection?
As far as I know, DDoS is not carried out from a huge botnet, but from a bunch of rented VPSs.
PS Does it even make sense to contact the authorities if I know exactly who DDoSit? I mean, I know his IP, the name of the account in the DC where he rents his VPS and the IP of these VPS. Well, there is a page in VK :)?

Look in the direction of OVH.ie
They give good vds with an extremely humane cost + DDoS protection is built in.

Well, if the attack is not serious, then you can move to vps and just block ip, for example, using iptables , firstbyte.ru has a cheap VPS, you can still slap the didoser on the ears, or write to the hoster that the didos is being conducted from such and such an address, but this is unlikely to help

A bunch of rented VPSs can zaddos your site?
Something you have there with the code is rather weak on the site,
I have a 500-ruble VPS hosting that can withstand 12,000 requests per second (1 billion per day) and does not even groan.
1. It will be much more effective if you optimize your site from the inside.
2. Move to a normal host. It is not expensive. Basic DDOS is handled by normal hosters themselves.
3. Specialized DDOS protection is needed only for very serious sites, it is irrational for DDOS users to even spend resources on ordinary sites.
4. You can limit the number of requests from one IP at the nginx level, for example, this is not difficult, but effective.
5. Already answered and a lot: see here Hosting with DDoS protection
