How to properly calibrate a monitor on a laptop?

We are talking about a simple calibration, not professional, just to nicely adjust the transmission of some colors (in particular, complexion, because there are big problems with this: the faces on the laptop are oversaturated, shiny). I tried downloading the icc profile, but it did not help. I just have a laptop connected to a monitor and the difference in display hurts my eyes. The difference is actually visible even between a cheap phone and a laptop.

Rent a calibrator/person with a calibrator for a couple of hours.
