How to prevent programs from changing the cursor icon?

One good toy has a completely monstrous mouse pointer icon. It is impossible to understand where it sticks when pressed, it is very annoying. A standard Windows cursor would be much more usable.
Is it possible to prevent applications (or a specific program) from replacing the pointer icon with their own?

The joke is that the toy may not replace the pointer, but simply hide it. And to draw already a sprite in coordinates of the cursor. It's even more likely that it is.
You can try using winAPI to return the display of the cursor - it seems to be a property of the window. But the gaming monstrous is not going anywhere.

Only if there is a choice in the game settings - hardware / software cursor. Or use a program like Cheat Engine (or other resource editors) and change the cursor image. But here you already have to go and "read the manuals" how and where to look for it, and what and how to change.
