How to organize a stable fax?
There is Asterisk 1.8 working with the Huawei E173 modem via chan_dongle. There was a need to receive/send a fax. About two years ago, there were many opinions about the instability of the Asterisk fax, and everyone spat on it very much. I read an article about HylaFax on asterisk-pbx.ru, is it really so simple and good? Is it possible now to organize a stable fax, in which direction to look / read and how many problems can arise?

Fax in general is not a stable thing, given the poor support for T.38 from providers, you will catch a fax inbound, and there, as with old faxes: "hello, passed? No? Let's do it again."
As an option, buy desktop computers with fax modems, take two telephone lines and use which API thread to organize all this. You can send from one, receive on the other. In my opinion, for Windows it even works out of the box, auto-acceptance.
Yes, it is possible to have in the mob. fax applications, as an option on mobile phones to which redirection occurs. Here, even without light, the reception will work).
In general, I advised some kind of garden)
Perhaps I didn't phrase my question clearly enough. You need to receive faxes from regular panasonic fax phones using the console asterisk. Clients are connected and work with soft phones of the Windows type. You just need to receive fax data to the mail without problems. Ideally, I would like not to rebuild the architecture and not buy additional. equipment.
Hello. Did you manage to receive and send faxes on the E173?
