How to NOT follow a hyperlink when clicking on it in browsers (like Chrome)?
I often highlight words with a double click. Some of these words are hyperlinks that have to be highlighted in other ways, because the first click is a transition. Uncomfortable.
How to select the text of a hyperlink by double clicking without going to the address to which it directs? Are there shortcuts for this or any other solutions to the problem?

Holding down the Alt key while selecting prevents the link from being followed. But unfortunately, if you double-click to select, then a document located at the address to which the link leads will be downloaded to the selection. Therefore, you still have to select by dragging the mouse from the beginning to the end of the selected area of text.
Pressing the ALT key prevents the link from being followed, allowing you to select and copy text. Of course, not exactly what you need (ALT + double click in Google Chrome will not allow you to select text), but you can use this feature in Firefox, or you can install a plugin for Google Chrome.
