Why do icons (icon font) disappear when working with css through chrome dev tools?

When I enable / disable / change any css property in chrome in dev tools, icons disappear / appear (icon font, assembly with fontello). This is not the case in other browsers. Other sites that use icon fonts don't. I would not say that it is very disturbing, but still strange .. What could be the problem?
