Attention! This sentence does not answer your question at all :)
But I also asked similar questions about half a year ago. Where can I get new extensions, why does the new gnome break, etc. etc... and then I installed Elementary OS and since then, believe me, I'm happy. :) Excuse me for breaking in like this.
