How to make webpack config for frontend and backend?

Tell me good people, how to create a config for developing the front and back at the same time?
From the examples, only the front code can be bundled, but it is not clear how to launch the back in this case, and where the back code lies is also not clear. In general, the process itself is not clear, how it is all organized and how it works.
I analyzed projects on github - there is so much superfluous heaped up that I could not get through the jungle. (or simply did not find the right one)
Please, briefly on the fingers (read - specific examples) explain this mechanism, as well as the approximate structure of directories (files).

Frontend and backend are not related to anything other than a web server. They have different build tools.
