How to make "character-by-character chat" for code? And is it worth the bother?

There is a beautiful idea.
I would like to link 2 codemirror input areas - one on the student's computer, and the other on the teacher's computer so that changes in one are synchronously displayed in the other.
Or is it almost impossible...
