Cisco IP softphone, in my opinion, has already reached the status of EOL (end of life), I believe Cisco IP Communicator will help you . I can't comment on the price, unfortunately.
In case Cisco phones work in SIP mode, I assume a software SIP client will do.

cisco has great CUCM products as well as CUPC. There is a jabber client from which you can call anywhere. There is also an option to combine MS Lync with CUCM, then you can use Lync clients for calls.
