How to make automatic content update on the user's computer?
Hello.
For many hours I tried to find what I needed and did not even find discussions on the topic of how it is created in general in principle.
In order ...
Everyone probably knows Steam. Here's what's interesting about it. The game is downloaded by the gamer, then updated by the developer and .... when the gamer starts the game by clicking the "play" button, updates are first downloaded, if any.
It would be very interesting to listen / read more about how such services are created!
Let's say I have lessons on creating websites. The lessons were downloaded to the computer by people. I updated some lesson and when you start some kind of "launcher" (or "launcher - hello to 4game company) before showing the lesson, first the old one will be deleted and the new one will be downloaded to the person.
And I ask you not to write about the fact that you can upload online lessons in the player.
The idea itself is very interesting. That the client gets something for free or upon purchase, and then when the developer (author) decides, the content will update miraculously! It's cool and convenient for everyone.
Interested in methods / technologies / tools with which it is possible to create the described service.
Ready-made solutions (scripts) if someone provides, I'll be surprised. I didn’t even find services where it would be possible to give a person only 1 file (launcher) and by launching it, a person would receive the newest content, let’s say so.
