How to make a video preview like on pornhub, youtube?

On pornhub, when you hover over the preview, the video starts playing (8-10s).
I upload a video of say 35 minutes to my site, do I need to separately prepare a 10s video for a preview, or are there tools to automatically generate a short video?

There is such an engine Kernel Video Sharing, so when I used it, when uploading a video, 10-20 screenshots of this video were created, and then a preview was made of them. So here, as you correctly wrote in the comment, you first need to learn how to take a couple of screenshots from the video on the server, and then fasten them together on the server.
