How to make a UPS for a hospital from a laptop?
Good day to all.
There is an ancient laptop (Asus A3000), and a good hospital with a 650w unit.
Often they began to cut down electricity, for 5 minutes (they say technical work, the time is not known, but it's a pity for the computer),
and as luck would have it, there is no money for a UPS.
The question arose: Is it possible to make a UPS from a laptop (or its battery)?
With all the consequences, i.e. an approximate connection diagram, load, drops, and other various nuances.
I dug around on the Internet and did not find it. As I think, cut the battery to the network filter and from it to the computer.
But then again, will she explode =)

To power the hospital from a lithium battery, you need a specialized power supply - which, in the event of a power failure from the network, will take power from the batteries, and it must also control the charging of the battery.
This can be made to order for you. It is difficult to convert a conventional power supply into this one - the difference in circuits is 60% - it is required to change the controller and transformer (it is easier to develop a circuit from scratch).
If there is no money at all, I recommend looking for a decommissioned UPS with a dead battery and a half-dead car battery. (UPS kill Akum to the end)
An old battery from an ancient laptop is not enough even for a regular shutdown of the computer.
The connection will be noticeably more difficult than for a laptop - because. the computer has other voltage requirements, or to block the UPS battery at 220V, which is also an expensive pleasure.
The idea is stupid and unfortunate.
