How to make a short CNAME in GoDaddy?

There is a domain in GoDaddy.
CNAMEs like "www" = "@" work fine.
But CNAMEs like "www" = "newserver" are translated to "newserver." and does not turn into newserver.example.net.

www.example.net is an alias for newserver.

Is there any way to get around this, except for the FQDN in the value?
