How to make a round avatar in Photoshop?

There is a photo and a drawn circle, you need to make sure that the photo is inside this circle.

The layer with the circle (vector or raster, it doesn't matter) should be immediately below the photo layer in the layer hierarchy. After that, in the window with the list of layers, right-click on the picture, and select "Create Clipping Mask". Everything. Now your circle layer is a mask for the photo layer.

This is done using CSS.
border-radius: 50%;

Hold CTRL (CMD on a Mac) and click on the icon (before the name) of the layer with the circle → select the layer with the image (photo) → click "Add layer mask" (the icon looks like a rectangle with a circle inside, located at the bottom of the sidebar under all layers ).

Make a circle selection, invert, select the photo layer and delete.
It is possible and through a mask - a matter of taste.
