How to make a recovery?

I bought an HP laptop and wanted to install linux (manjaro kde), but the question arose if I format the disk and leave the partition with 8rka preinstalled, then how can I restore it later? On the laptop itself, I did not find the "Reset" button or something like that.

For reliability, it is worth backing up using Hiren's Boot CD / Acronis / Clonezilla to external media (USB, DVD, another computer on the internal network), and then install Linux.
If necessary, restore with the same software that you backed up.
When installing Linux, you can specify in the expert disk partitioning mode which partitions not to format and manually specify the volumes of future partitions and mount points. But if you do not understand partitioning in partitioning, then it is better to entrust the installation of Linux completely to the installer. The only thing you need to have after installing free space is at least 20 GB for the future to allocate a new partition at the end of the disk by reducing the NTFS partition.

If you don't know how to do this, but you are going to install Linux, it's better to buy a separate screw, remove the old one and save it on a shelf.
PS During installation, Linux is quite capable of detecting that there is another operating system there and retaining the ability to boot into it.

Read mana to the laptop. There must be a magic combination or F1-F12.
In order not to tear your hair on your ass later, back up the entire disk with an acronym, but rather have fun with a virtual machine.

smoke grub with uefi to start. and so the plan is similar to Roman @2ord
- shrink the partition with win to 120 GB
- roll linux - during installation, select the partitioning by handles
- configure grub2

all the advice is correct, BUT the question arises, if a person does not know how to restore the system with the native means of a laptop, how is he going to install Linux, what does he know about partitions, partitions and in general about the structure of the HDD? if a beginner, then the new HDD in hand and forward, if experienced .....? eight)
