How to make a grid for android? (designer under material design)?

It seems that the question is simple, there is a lot of information, but I did not fully understand which grid to use and whether I use it correctly at all. Downloaded of. sources for sketch and in general a lot of source codes for examples, but it seems that all of them do not correspond to the grid. Is everything correct in the example and which grid is better to use for this?

so what's the question then? is it correct to use 8 pixel grid? (take it as a base and take 1dp for 1px)
official sources can't be crooked.
You can make your own 8 pixel grid (divide by 8 and it will be fine, by the way, you don’t have to make 12 columns for apps)
