How to login to ubuntu if it shows black screen?

Good evening.
I have Ubuntu 14.04.3 installed on my laptop in parallel with Windows 10.
Today I saw the usual password entry window with a splash screen. However, after entering, the screen turns black and after a few moments the password window reappears.
Resetting the password via recovery mode did not help. What else can you try? Thank you.

You can enter the terminal Ctrl + Alt + F1, try to log in as a user.
If it lets you try to run it startxand see what kind of errors will fall out, look at the logs.
It happened to me when there was an encrypted home directory and the files from were broken / missing /home/.ecryptfs/username/.ecryptfs, I had to restore the missing files from the backup (otherwise the decryption of the files did not work).

You can try the following options:
1. Boot into recovery mode (like a bare console should be);
2. In normal mode, switch to the console (Ctrl+Alt+F1), log in as a regular user.
Then view the logs, in particular, the X-server, or maybe something else. Further, as an option, clean up the files in the home directory after backing up and see if you can log in. If it works and there is no black screen, then the problem is in some settings.
