How to lock Macbook or Win-L equivalent in MacOS?

I'm a Linuxoid transplanted to a Mac. At the risk of sounding like an idiot, but I can't google how to lock a macbook using a hotkey. Microsoft has Win-L, Linux has ctrl-alt-L.
How about Apple?
