there is a server on FreeBSD 8.3 that makes backups of itself and uploads to the Selectel cloud via openswift using python-swiftclient.
Since the backups are quite large, this takes a long time, the outgoing channel becomes clogged and the server starts responding to requests for a long time. We thought that we should limit the upload speed.
The first idea of ​​the server support is a pipe to ipfw, but the selectel cloud, according to his support, has too many different IPs.
python-swiftclient itself has no rate limiting options.
