Probably 1.8 is written in the PATH and JAVA_HOME environment variables (this is probably in /etc/environment). It seems that there is a script for installing the required versions of java in the archbase distributions - archlinux-java
However! Use Sdkman and forget about installation problems on any distribution. Even in the latest versions of Intellij IDEA, it seems possible to install.
