How to install MS Visual Studio 2008 ?

When I try to start the installation on windows 7, the installation menu pops up, I click install visual studio, the menu closes and that's it, nothing happens anymore. What should I do?

It seems to me like this: install a virtual machine, raise outdated Windows on it and install VS2008 on it.

You can try compatibility mode.
