How to install freeDOS from a flash drive?

Greetings. I want to return the laptop to its original form, put freeDOS on it. I downloaded the image from the official site (freeDOS 1.2), wrote it to a USB flash drive, booted it up, installed it. And then it turned out that DOS considered the flash drive from which I launched the installation as a hard drive and installed on it, and not on a hard laptop :) There was no choice during the installation process. I tried both version 1 and version 1.1 - they all strive to be installed on the USB flash drive from which I launch them, instead of the laptop's hard drive. You are not allowed to choose the installation location.
How can I still install this freeDOS from a flash drive or a laptop hard drive? There is no CD-rom on the laptop, so you won't be able to install it from the disk either.

if you do not turn off the SATA AHCI mode in the BIOS, then DOS will never see the laptop's hard drive.

Bought a Lenovo IdeaPad 320-15AST [80XV00RNRK] to install Ubuntu. But, because This model is not adapted for Linux, the car must be returned. According to FreeDOS. It was not possible to install from the CD-dsik at all. And, here, after some thought, I succeeded from a USB flash drive ...
I don’t remember at what stage the 5th menu item appears with the choice of the disk on which to install. Everything is simple - choose and continue the installation. The program will then require a reboot. So that's the point!!!!!!!!!! after rebooting FreeDOS does not remember the choice of disk for installation! And after the reboot, you need to immediately fall out into DOS, run fdisk and again choose to change the disk. Then (without rebooting) run the continuation of the installation (if I'm not mistaken install). Well, actually, and the whole trick /
