How to increase the number of hdd drives on the motherboard?
I have an asus M2N68 motherboard (4 x SATA 300MB/s RAID 0,RAID 1, RAID0+1,RAID 5 and JBOD) I need to connect 3 hdds of 4TB, please advise how best to do this? this is a home storage where audio files will be stored and distributed publicly via Cloudflare CDN, the site itself will be located on VDS.

20 hdd is not only twenty sata ports (that is, at least five 4-port controllers or 3 8-port controllers, and disks from an external controller most likely cannot be stuffed into an under-raid from the mother), but also:
- a case for 20 seats (large at least 5U box, if server type)
- power supply unit (s) for 20 connectors and suitable power (disks usually start up all at the same time, so you need to count the PSU assuming that everyone is working)
- array monitoring tools - dump one disk in raid0 - everything crashes, in raid5 it transfers the array to downgraded, and 9.5 Tb you will recover so much that one more screw can die - and that's it, sailed, the array is unrecoverable.
I highly do not recommend doing such crap, because you will not have a normal raid, only soft, raid 5 on an array of this size (and with so many disks) is suicide
Judging by the slots - to score on the controller of the disks in pci-e
But I don't know if there are controllers for 8sat ...
In general - you will sag wildly in speed
I would advise you to buy a standard motherboard with several pci-e
And another question. - How do you place them in the case?
Option 2 - buy a disk shelf
Take sata-sas expanders and hang disks on them in storms! You can hang up to 250 pieces! There are also multipliers like these https://m.habr.com/ru/post/120629/
That is, there is scrap metal, and I would like to use it without investing money. Or invest a minimum of money?
I don't think it will work.
There are practically no new PCI SATA controllers anymore. There were no more than 4 ports.
A PCI-E controller for 8 ports costs 7,000.
A 4T drive costs the same 7,000.
Buy 3 large drives of 4 T each (12 T total, or maybe 2 will be enough for a start), which will replace your 20 pcs. 0.5 T, and do not toil with nonsense.
