How to implement a shared shopping cart for multiple sites?

There is a family of stores www.familyhood.com from Amazon, or rather 10 stores, each in a different direction, but all have a common basket. How is it possible to implement it? Shared database?
And which cms is better to use for this case?

The main and interesting question is how to implement a shared account with transparent authorization.
You can read on Habré how Yandex.passport was done, there is no magic there.
And then yes, the common base is simple.

CMS - any.
Cart: handler "to cart" - widget.

The general basket is not a problem. There the devil is in the details. If all stores have the same payment and delivery, there is no problem. If they are different, and the user puts goods from different stores in the basket in one session, it is more difficult. Did a similar project on Gres with minor modifications.
