How to heat nichrome with a PSU from a computer?

There would be LATR).
On the Internet I saw a lot of all sorts of alterations to the PSU, but I'm still bad with electronics).
I found a video - www.youtube.com/watch?v=DuKzOuVNqHQ , but there all the comments are buzzing that the PSU can burn out.
The comments say that you need to put some kind of load on the wires. And is it possible to attach a rheostat to the output wires?

A standard ATX power supply is turned on by shorting the green wire (PS_ON) in the ATX connector to the black one (COM).
Modern ATX PSUs are rated to provide ~70% percent power over the 12 volt line. That is, for a 450W power supply, you can count on ~ 300 W on a 12 volt line. Which gives a minimum load of 144 / 300 = 0.5 ohms. If the resistance of the thread is less, then the protection will work.
You can learn more about the maximum loads on the lines from the sticker on the PSU itself.
In general, when the load is exceeded, a normal power supply will turn off, and not burn out.

So the nichrome thread itself will be the load
