How to get private key using certSigningRequest?

The customer has an Apple Developer Account and sent me 2 files, distribution.cer and certsignreq.certSigningRequest. I added a certificate to the keychain, and when I try to build the application, Xcode tells me that I do not have a Private Key for this certificate. How can I get it? Is it possible with certSigningRequest?

It is not clear why he sent you a CSR. The CSR is sent to the CA, which issues the actual certificate. And the dude kept the key, it is created at the time of generating the CSR. Apparently the dude does not cut the topic ..
