How to get feature data from OpenStreetMap?

OSM maps show schools, hospitals, etc. Is it possible to get these objects somehow or from somewhere? Those. to have a name, type and coordinates at the output?
Maybe there are some resources where there is such a thing? I can't find any.

You can download data, build a database using osm2psql. And there you can find enough data about the buildings, including their purpose.
From experience I can say that it is not difficult to make a demo for a single city. But it is extremely difficult to make a reliable service that will work all over the world and even support updates. All this can be written in different fields depending on the time or region. For example, a school can be represented by a pair of independent polygons or one complex one.
