All attempts to sleep less can affect your health in the future
Time should be freed up not due to lack of sleep

The cognitive abilities of your brain are directly related to how much sleep you get. Moreover, people are different, some need 10 or even 12 hours to sleep.

This is because you are a normal person with a healthy body.
To get enough sleep for 6 - you have to become unhealthy, for example, call yourself a biohacker and force the body with all kinds of substances, stimulants and deprivation. Well, or wait 50 years - there is a high probability that in old age you will have enough even 5.
If you want to do more, organize things better.

No way.
Sleep is necessary for the normal functioning of the body. Without sleep, productivity will drop without options.

Don't try to do everything. Highlight the most important and manage only it.
Don't waste time on social media.
Even when you are like "resting" watching YouTube or listening to music (you can also include computer games and something else here) - this all prevents the brain from digesting what you put into it during the day and productivity eventually falls. Best for relaxing walks / jogs in the fresh air (without headphones) and chatting with friends.
You need to sleep as much as your body needs.
I also recommend going to bed at about the same time and getting up at the alarm clock. On weekends, do not sleep all the way, but add 1-2 hours to weekdays and that's enough. In this mode, after a while, the body adapts and will already put you to bed and wake you up at the right time.

For God's sake, don't get fooled by all this fancy stuff and DO NOT shorten your sleep. You will pay for the extra ephemeral couple of hours with reduced productivity the rest of the time, irritability, and then diseases.
I am sure that you have something to optimize during your active time to get things done faster, more optimally, etc. Read articles by Steve Pavlina, he experimented a lot on this topic (Steve Pavlina is a very peculiar person and you can disagree with many of his tricks, but time management is a topic in which he is objectively cool and proved everything to everyone).

For emergencies, you can try to sleep 3 times for 2 hours, or even 2 for 2. True, no more than one, maximum two times in a row, otherwise you will be a vegetable.

Improve your sleep quality.
Cool fresh air in the room.
Comfortable mattress and pillow.
Silence.
Curtains that don't let in light.

Look in the direction of REM sleep techniques and auto-training, there are techniques that allow you to recover in 15 minutes of such sleep for the next 4 hours.
In any case, all this drains the resources of the body, its vitality, and shortens the lifespan.

Taking ZMA (zinc + magnesium + B6) helps me. I started getting better sleep with the same number of hours of sleep.
I began to take it on the recommendation of a sports doctor during periods of frequent competitions and training.

1. Efficiency. Once upon a time I read that you can reduce sleep time with the help of psychotechnics (auto-training, etc.)
2. Expediency. Now (during the coronavirus pandemic), doctors regularly recommend getting enough sleep (7-8 hours on average). lack of sleep reduces immunity. During sleep, the brain "restores" and "repairs" our body. Doctors recommend going to bed no later than 23.30, because. at this time, the recovery processes begin. Regular lack of sleep leads to a reduction in life expectancy, so here I would think about organizing work / personal time, or, as an extreme option, changing jobs.
And the fact that your efficiency decreases with lack of sleep is normal. Your organism warns you, and it is necessary to use these "calls" correctly.
