How to get around mysql Incorrect string value error when saving result from gzencode function?

Good afternoon.
I'm trying to add the result of the gzencode($mySimpleString) function to I'm doing this with ajax. One of the fields needs to be further compressed, for this I use gzencode($mySimpleString.
But I get a similar error
>MySQL Query Error: [[1366] Incorrect string value: '\x8B\x08\x00\x00\x00\x00...'
type custom property - a string. What should I do? What data type should I change it to so that errors do not occur? Or does it make sense to work with the compression result myself so that errors do not occur?
