How to fix Windows 7 registry under Ubuntu?

Hello comrades. You are welcomed by a noob in everything that goes beyond the usual "next-next-ready". I will explain the situation in detail.
1. Our working printer is broken. For a while, while it was being repaired, they got an old HP, but it only had drivers for Windows XP. And on the computer 7 is the maximum.
2. The most obvious option was to install Oracle VM VirtualBox and run XPI from it. Everything worked, but the guest Windows did not see the printer. After googling a bit, I found a solution. I had to fix the registry.
Specifically, this one:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class{36FC9E60-C465-11CF-8056-444553540000}
UpperFilter
But instead of renaming, I fixed the registry value. Because noob -_-
3. Now, when you turn on the computer, it reacts to the keyboard before loading Windows, but after that it ceases to perceive any manipulations with the mouse and keyboard.
4. Using the installation flash drive with Ubuntu 16.10, we managed to get the necessary files. But the bottom line is that the computer does not have a completely legally installed program, and installing it again is sheer hemorrhoids. Therefore, the demolition of Windows is somehow not an option.
I hope there is someone rummaging around. Thanks in advance.

@kisaa

And on a live Win-system, open and fix this broken registry - no? Run - regedt32.exe - expand HKLM branch - File menu - Load hive - select broken SYSTEM, load under any name, fix what you need - File menu - Unload hive
