How to fix opening each folder in a separate window in Windows 10?

When I open a folder that is on the Desktop through Explorer, and open other folders in it, they open in a separate window, and more than once. If you open the folder directly from the Desktop, then everything is fine. The folder options are set to open each folder in the same window.
