How to fix make install on FreeBSD?

Good afternoon!
I tried to install VMware Tools in FreeBSD 9.2 and during installation I got a message that the "compat6x-amd64" component is missing. It is in the /usr/ports/misc/ ports, I wanted to install it, but when I tried to install it, I received the following message:

make install clean
"/usr/ports/Mk/bsd.port.mk", line 1038: Unknown directive
"/usr/ports/Mk/bsd.port.mk", line 1038: Unknown directive
make: fatal errors encountered -- cannot continue

Searching on the Internet, it turned out that make install does not work, but how to fix it, and even more so how to install this very library not from ports, I did not find anything intelligible.
Good people tell me what and how to do ...

FreeBSD 9.2 is deprecated and does not support installing ports and packages. Should be updated to the latest version (up to 11.0 or 10.3)

Nine is not supported.
You can download the ports.txz file from the freebsd site, extract it and try from there. ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/releases/amd64/9.3-RELEASE
Better upgrade though.
And up to 11.
Since 10 will also be removed from support soon.
