How to find out what messages I receive in telegram through python3?

the task is to find out what messages come and depending on what message came to perform a certain action.
I thought to implement using selenium, but I didn’t figure out which block of html code to point to the location of an element like a text input button, etc.
the idea came to my mind to see what data comes through the telegram port, but even there is not enough knowledge :(
