How to find out the type of Internet connection, login and password, provided that you connect via software to the Internet?
Good day. I am currently in China and have purchased Internet from ChinaTelecom, wired, Ethernet connection. Connection takes place through third-party software provided when purchasing the package. You can connect 1 pc. The whole problem is that I want to connect through a router, but the problem is that when creating a PPOE connection on a router or a PC, it does not work (it says that it does not recognize such a combination of password and login). How can I determine the type of connection and login with a password that this software creates?

Most likely, a type of connection was used, called an authorizer - this is a special program that works according to its own protocol and periodically informs the provider's billing that your IP is online. This is not PPPoE and not PPTP or another type of VPN, but a separate stray that was popular with domestic providers 15 years ago, now it is almost nowhere left. Option 1, go to a provider with a laptop on which Linux and ask to set up a connection, if they do it - carefully transfer everything to a router with alternative firmware, most likely for Linux and OSX they use a different type of authorization and you will be given different credentials. Option 2, set up a proxy on your computer and distribute further directly from it, there may be other options, but there is not enough data, and you can guess for a long time.
