How to find out in OpenWrt which interface belongs to a certain WIFI network or zone?

Two wifi networks are configured in OpenWrt, one as a client, the other as an AP. The client is bound to the lan zone, and the client is bound to the wwan zone.
The ifconfig mentions the wlan0 and wlan0-1 virtual interfaces, but they are not mentioned in the /etc/config/network and /etc/config/wireless configs. They are not mentioned anywhere at all. I need to periodically check the connection and the presence of the Internet through the wifi client, but for ping I need to know exactly which wlan the client is hanging on in order to ping through a specific network.
How can I find out which wlan belongs to which wifi network?
