How to extract data from a half-killed hard drive?

There is a half-killed hard one, which seems to be more or less readable, but falls off after copying a certain number of files by Windows Explorer. Then, after a reboot, it comes to its senses again and you can copy a little more, and a little more, in general, copy for a very long time. Maybe there is some utility that can simply dump what happens from the disk, and then save what survived?

As you reasonably wrote above, first of all soberly assess the importance of the data on the disk. Those. estimate the magnitude of the emergency for you if the disk stops reading, and you only have what you have already copied (and, hopefully, checked the files for integrity ) on hand.
If your disk "falls off" during file-by-file copying, then most likely the same thing will happen when creating an image. But GNU ddrescue is still at least one of the best options at home.
It's hard to speak completely blindly without knowing the model, symptoms, or technical information about the problem, but it is possible that you have surface defects that can finish off your head.
After that, turning to professionals will be the only option, but the cost of the work will not be the most budgetary. It is completely possible that if you stop your attempts and contact a data recovery
company now, the price will be noticeably lower, some amount of data will be read without replacing heads, and based on this amount, you can decide whether you need whether you need a replacement for further reading. Also, if the disk isn't too bad, there might be a chance to try reading what you need first. PS If your intention to start yourself is firm about
, etc. you have already tortured the disk with copying, you can also take R.tester and make diagnostics in order to better understand what is happening to it: https://rlab.ru/tools/rtester.html

@alexpok

Start by replacing the power and data cables, maybe the drive is still alive?
And if not, then connect the second one in parallel and try to pull the files on it using the GetDataBack utility
