How to expand the file system in Linux when the disk grows?

Is there a way to expand an ext3 filesystem when a disk/LUN grows without rebooting and unmounting it?
In Windows, this is done elementarily - just click Extend Volume in diskmgmt.msc. For Linux, I have so far only come across crazy instructions with compound volumes (which are not supported by software for RK) through lvextend and a solution like "pdresize, lvresizre and expand the file system", but without a detailed description I could not use it.

You can increase it without unmounting it online, if we are talking about increasing the FS:
resize2fs /path/to/device

Instruction
To update without rebooting, after changing the size of the virtual disk, you must rescan the disk (get a new disk size). Something like this:
or
echo 1 > /sys/class/block/xxx/device/rescan
