How to encrypt an external HDD so as not to lose data when bad sectors appear?
Good afternoon, I needed to create an encrypted container of about 500 - 700 GB in size on an external hard drive. But I'm afraid if you create a container using VeraCrypt and at least 1-2 bad sectors appear on the disk, then the entire container file will not open :( and this is, in fact, all the data, not a couple of
files you need to protect data from viewing in case of loss of a hard
drive.Maybe look in the direction of Bitlocker?or does VeraCrypt have encryption algorithms that are not sensitive to damage to several sectors on the disk?

VeraCrypt encrypts in blocks, incl. the appearance of bad physical blocks will probably affect individual blocks, but the entire container will not be affected ...
