How to enable swype for english in android 5.1 stock keyboard?
Swype works with Russian by default, but not with English (you can only enter character-by-character). I did not find anything about English in the settings. I don’t want to install other keyboards, the standard one is convenient

I dug into the settings and figured it out) As Lex Fradski suggested , it was in the language that was set to English by default (Latin QWERTY). If you go to Settings -> Language and Input -> Google Keyboard -> Language, you can see that "System Language" is selected by default. It is necessary to remove it and put the necessary languages \u200b\u200bin the list below (in my case, these are Russian and English (UK)). Now swype works)
Settings ->| Language & Input ->| Google Keyboard ->| Gesture Typing, mark the one you need, you can try to remove all the checkboxes, reboot and attach it back. There are no separate switches for languages. Perhaps you have some kind of non-standard English, which lacks dictionaries, or International in which there is simply universal Latin without dictionaries, try playing around with the settings in the Text Correction section.
I have pure Android 5.1, google keyboard version 4.0.21203.1613964, no problems, but keep in mind that I don’t use American English anywhere on the device, except for voice search - both the interface and input use English (UK).
