How to enable cron logs in Ubuntu 18.04?

Good day.
I can't enable cron logging
, googling says I need to edit the file: etc/rsyslog.d/50-default.conf

There is no such file in the system.
Creating a file and writing a line to it:
cron. * /var/log/cron.log
does nothing.

Feeling that in general logging on all topics is disabled.

Creating a file and writing a line to it:
cron. * /var/log/cron.log
does nothing

First, you have a space between the dot and the asterisk; remove this space.
Second, you need to restart rsyslog for the changes to take effect:
sudo systemctl restart rsyslog.service
