How to edit config files in ESXI 5.1 via SSH?

Good afternoon!
Given:
Server running Vmware ESXi 5.1

Conditions
The task was to set up a nut client - a UPS monitoring utility.
Installed the vib file from off. site nut.
Everything works fine, but the default config file in /etc/ups contains inappropriate settings.

Tried to
rule file in vi via ssh, but after a reboot nothing persisted.

Question:
How can I change the file so that it is saved.
Path - /etc/ups/upsmon.conf.template

I know that you can try to change the vib file and then install it, but for now I'm looking for simpler ways to solve the problem.
