How to download a file from a file hosting service in a server version of Linux?

Often I have to do this using Windows (I look at the source of the page for a direct link to the file and download via wget). How, having only an ubuntu server connected to the Internet, download files from file sharing services such as mail.ru? What approach to apply? Console browser?

1) We launch tigervncserver on the server, having previously installed some lxde.
2) We connect using any vnc client - best of all, the same tigervnc.
3) We use a regular browser.
True, all this RAM eats from 150MB additionally ...
